Open Innovation Methodology, Toolkit and Ecosystem

Intellectual property

Critically, a strong IP framework has been developed to protect both the invention of the innovator teams and the individual source IP from industry, with clarity and accountability from the outset. In this way, the disruptive innovation takes place both at arm’s length and within reach of the companies who contribute the source IP. Innovation is pushed to the margin.

The layers of intellectual property and unique agreements developed for this ecosystem allows for independent creative developers and SMEs to create and own Innovation IP that is built on top of the Industry IP, with full clarity and accountability using a system of smart contracts and distributed database technology designed for microtransactions and interactions within the physical internet.

New emergent companies can therefore discover and exploit new markets with their own products and services, and these products also act as containers for a combination of pre-existing industry assets that can thereby reach new markets.

Innovators are not exploited by having their ideas taken from them by powerful corporations as soon as they are invented, and nor are industry incumbents threatened by disruptive innovation from without (as has already been the case in many industry sectors with seismic impacts), since their products, data and technologies are embedded within these new disruptive inventions and will find new markets and use cases as those new products are released, adopted and further developed.
